About - Recruiter’s View
Sooner or later, everything in real life influences the jobs markets. So, our topics here range all over the place.
In our search to discover and share what’s really going on, we are particularly trying to answer the questions:
- Where will jobs be created (and why?)
- Where will jobs be destroyed (and why?)
This is my commentary on what I see and what I think it means.
People sometimes ask my opinion, because they assume a Recruiter’s activity can be a useful indicator.
And in fact, it’s true that I can pick up on changes in the business environment months ahead of the published numbers.
Understanding the implications of those changes is the trick. Daily conversations with business leaders give me the equivalent of perpetual survey results. And talking to candidates is the perfect reality check.
Ultimately, then, my evaluation is largely formed as an extension of what many, many others have been kind enough to share with me.
So, when you think I’ve got it wrong, I encourage you to tell me what you see from your side of the mountain.
We’re all trying to figure this out together.
Thanks for being a part of our effort!

The American investor still needs protecting. Goldman Sachs and the SEC announced a settlement today. Highly educated, very disciplined attorneys on both sides wrestled…
Banks Too Big To Succeed?
In the name of Safety, Congress writes financial regulations that throttle the financial industry, slow the economy, and invite mischief of chilling proportions. Congress has slammed another 2,000 page behemoth through the system. Much like other recent legislation, perhaps the goal is to pass something now and change it later. TOOTHLESS BUT DANGEROUS The financial…
Here Comes Credit
Guess who’s back? Over a year into our recovery, companies are now focused on delivering earnings. As a group, they’ve avoided spending, they’re sitting on huge piles of cash, and they’re working hard to build sales. The financial guys see that, and they want in. If cash is the blood of the economy, does that…
SEC vs. Goldman Sachs
Prediction: Under the law, Goldman wins. SEC has no case. For public consumption: They’ll call it a draw so the government can make a statement. Issue #1: Goldman sold securities, and somebody lost a billion dollars. Answer: That’s what happens every second in the world markets. Two sophisticated players wanted to put up big money,…
