Mixing Oil and Water

By Ted Dieck | Featured Candidates - Energy - Featured Candidate - Project Manager | Oct 14, 2024

U.S. oil producers may soon hear a President call on them to “Drill, baby, drill.”

No doubt, that support would be a huge breath of fresh air for the industry.
But do we have enough qualified people to respond to the call?

Years of government attacks have eroded the supply chain.  Experienced members of the Oil & Gas industry have either retired or moved on to different options.

A Two-Pronged Solution

That’s why it was a pleasant surprise to discover today’s Featured Candidate.

He contributes valuable oil production solutions from two different perspectives.

First, he’s a degreed Petroleum Engineer with years of experience in Completions Operations.  He has worked directly for major oil producers, and he has served separately as a consultant for several large projects.

Second, he has an interesting water/wastewater exposure.  Put together with oil production, the water/wastewater background offers real insights for fracking.

Produced Water Challenges

Here’s a quick list of produced water challenges our Candidate is prepared to resolve…

  1. Huge volumes to manage
  2. Complex contaminants
  3. Strict regulations
  4. High treatment costs
  5. Energy-intensive processes
  6. Tech limitations
  7. Scale & corrosion issues
  8. Environmental concerns
  9. Water scarcity pressures
  10. Variable water composition

Completions Operations

Combining water services with oil production, generates this list…

  1. Water Management: Sourcing, moving, and treating millions of gallons
  2. Sand Logistics: Getting tons of proppant to sites on time
  3. Workforce: Provide onsite operations consulting

Oil and Water

If you’ve read this far, you might assume that the oil and water references support drilling and fracking operations.  And that’s mostly correct.

Our Featured Candidate is well networked in both spaces and is willing to take on some tough challenges.

Beyond that, when he’s not working to resolve oil production issues, you’ll find him surfing, off the coast of California.

As he said, he doesn’t care where he works, as long as he can make it back to the waves.
